Studies show "trauma-focused treatments for PTSD are preferred by most patients".

A study recently published in Frontiers in Psychology, reviews several forms of treatment for PTSD and also provides insights into patients that prefer various treatments.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and prolonged exposure therapy are the two most preferred treatment forms overall. The study indicates older patients prefer psychodynamic treatments..

Dr. Michael Dadson (Mike Dadson) states, Symptoms of trauma usually start within three months of a traumatic incident. It has been reported, in rare cases, that symptoms of PTSD may only occur after a number of years. It is not uncommon for symptoms to be present for a short period, then disappear, only to return again.”

1. Overccoming behaviours that are self-destructive.

2. Manging your emotions and overcoming anger issues.

3. Reducing your risk of physical health issues.

Dr. Michael Dadosn discusses unresolved trauma in the video above.

There are 3 phases to trauma treatment.

1. Establishing a theraputic relationship between the therapist the client while developing an understanding the client's current life context and relationships.

2. Through titration and imaginal exposure therapy to process the traumatic memory.

3. The third phase involves greiving the effect of the trauma.

Dr. Dadson has discovered through his research that men respond well to group therapy. Dr. Dadson provides an overview of his group therapy program at his Langley clinic, Gentle Currents Therapy. Read about the Men's Group Program here.
